How Does Lopinavir/Ritonavir Work?

Lopinavir blocks HIV protease, an enzyme the virus needs to create new, mature virus particles. Ritonavir slows the breakdown of lopinavir in the liver, helping it remain active for longer. Together, they reduce HIV multiplication and lower the amount of virus in the body.
